Hey, check this out:
http://darwine.sourceforge.net

DarWine is like the linux app WINE which allows you to run some windows programs. It's just begun development for macosX. This would be great if they get it up to standard!

If you can help out with coding, give these guys a yell.

Ooh... looking tasty. I've been following WINE's progress lately to see how they're going with AutoCAD compatabilit. I'm keen as to get the machines at work off Windows and onto something else (linux, MacOS, whatever) for security and cost reasons.

It's good to see people getting more and more OSS across to Apple. Fantastic stuff.

Excellent. I had a look at the sourceforge site and it didn't really say much about wether or not it was up and running...

I guess it is then, at least to an extent.

Hi

I would much prefer to run windows apps in osx and not have to deal with windows at all.

Anybody know how this project has been coming along?

From what I can gather the window's apps need to be recompiled. Is this right?

Any information appreciated!!

Thanks

It's still in very early stages. Not really usable at all yet.

I couldn't get it running. I think it'll take a while to get it working good. iSlayer said it runs pretty slow.

I've used it. It is very slow. But as the site says, it's still a developers preview release.

It's been happening since early 2004 actually (and Wine itself older than that).

Umm, it might pay off to double check the date before correcting people (especially an admin who has his own custom emoticons)

Talk about dragging up an old thread

I downloaded it and tried to run it a while back...it's pre-alpha. You'd be lucky to get anything running at all.
