Thread: CJK in MacOSX

Some of you may be familiar with the popular windows CJK viewer 'NJWIN CJK Viewer' by NJStar. You may also know that it does not have any MAC support.

I've currently got some song titles that are stuck in this kind of code:
    你聽得到
    ①佽

That is meant to be chinese... but my computer (iBook with Panther) can't recognise it. I was wondering if there was any MAC way of converting that jibberish into chinese characters.

    Thanks,
    Vic

I tended to find Windows broke the encoding on file names so that they wouldn't show up on Macs properly. I backed up a bunch of Outlook Express contacts from PC to Mac, and back on the PC, the names were screwed. This was in Japanese though.

Only thing I can think of is to cut and paste the fubar names into an email and send them to yourself. Sometimes you have to send them to Hotmail in the language and view it in a web browser for it to work even.

Also, quite possibly, switch the system encoding to Chinese in the International System Preference-pane and see if the names work after logging out and back in again.
