    Hi,

I have the PowerBook G4 and it has moderate use and I wanted to know vaguely how often I should reinstall the OS? Like every couple of months or annually? Also after I do this, is there any other software that I need to install, like on a PC I had to reinstall many drivers and software that came with the computer like battery meters, diagnostic programs. Is there any software like that, that comes with a PowerBook that needs reinstalling?

    Thanks a lot,

you shouldnt really have to unless someting goes wrong with the system, which isnt very likely unless your installing heaps of mods, or editing system files, or installing HEAPS of 3rd party stuff...

Reinstalling the OS is a waste of time. I have never reinstalled Mac OS. I just upgrade the OS every couple of years and it works fine - solid as a rock. Even when I get a new machine I usually just clone my old system onto it and repair permissions. It's one of the numerous joys of Mac ownership.
