I've installed OpenOffice 2 (X11, Developer Build, see: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/oo...ownloads.html) on my Mac running OS X 10.3.9 and it's working fine.

is it possible to fully integrate openoffice into OS X's GUI? TO make it look like a native OS X app that doesn't need X11?

This is purely a functional/cosmetic issue, but it would be great to to have seamless integration with OS X without seeing X11 load (I don't care if it loads in the background, as long as the user can't see it)

Looks like CodeTek VirtualDesktop could do it, but isn't there a freeware/opensource app to do this?

any help on achieving this would be great!

I could, but NeoOffice is based on OpenOffice 1.1.4. I've compared both and i'd rather use OpenOffice 2, as it has many more features.

A little off topic, but I have followed all the links from openoffice.org (your link didn't work for me for some reason) and got to an ftp download. Did you download a specific file?? The reason I ask is that I downloaded and installed, only to be greeted with OOo 2.0 in french. As I don't speak french...

    Warning: offtopic (apologies)

I believe "merde!" is the right expression for this situation
This is a funny site - multilingual swearing - essential for any travel.

I heard some mp3s a while ago where a guy had taken some old Public Enemy rap songsand cut out everything EXCEPT the swearing - absolute gold. Some of them almost sounded like real tracks!

The reason why some of you cannot access the website is simply because there is a ")" in the address. Here is the correct address:

    Jaffa,
That's where I was downloading from after following the "Developer Build" link.

    When I downloaded http://macosxrc.services.openoffice.org/pu...iger_fr.pkg.zip
it came down in French, so the original problem still stands.

Hmmm... I didn't have any problems with the whole french thing, mine was in english. the actual file is called "OOo_1.9.128_MacOSX_en-US.pkg.zip" , so check the filename b4 DLing.

    To Detritus2099

notice the "fr" in "http://macosxrc.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/ooomisc/MacOSXrc/OOo1.9.125_Tiger_fr.pkg.zip" ? My guess is that it stands for french, notice mine above has "en" for english

    This link should work: http://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/mirror/Open...stall_en-US.dmg

Edit; back on topic! Let's make openoffice look like a native OS X app
