I'll be driving my '03 Volkswagen Golf till Feb 05.

The reason the long wait (and I do want it now btw!&#33 is that Mum wants to buy the Golf from me, so I have decided to wait a little bit longer so she can buy it.

Nice work on getting the S.

Mini's aren't really my type of car...but if I was getting one, it'd definitely be the S. A mate of mine's got a standard n/a Cooper, and it's nice...but not terribly quick.

Any plans for a JCW upgrade down the track?

    Cheers,
    - Febs.

I'm 24, and no im not a mummies boy, but I do realise all the things she has done for me, so I thought I'd be nice .

The JCW will be early 2006, when it is more affordable h34r: at 10K is not a cheap mod, but one I consider well worth it!!!

Yeah go easy guys...I know a guy on his red P's (17 years old) with a JCW Cooper S. Apparently it has every single option possible, bar one. I heard it cost him close to $70k! :o

Sorry, i didnt mean you were a mummies boy, or that she was buying the car for you. I know many people who work their butts off and save up $$ to buy awesome cars, and I im not pissed off at them, just envious.

Also, surely the JCW would be illegal for him to drive? Arent the power to weight ratios on those things ridiculous, and not allowed if you aren't on your full license yet? :S Lucky guy, none the less... <_<

NSW P-platers are lucky enough to not have any of those restrictions. They're a Victorian thing. :P

Here you can drive a Murciélago on your L's, if someone's stupid enough to hand you the keys.

I am interested in the R32, its just it is definatly out of my price range! Such is life.

The MCS will hark back to my days driving a '73 Leyland Mini (1100 tho) and will proably be a keeper.

I barely get enough to pay for a mini (well to get finance on one) the R32 is 17K more expensive! :o

This is the funniest post i have read here.. i like how u said "Ultimate iPod accessory" as soon as u said that i knew it was a BM'er or a Mini....

When a friend of minegot their car serviced the garage gave her a Mini (old Mr Bean orange model) as a service car... we got to drive that around for 2 weeks.. its was mad... the old minis are soooo small...

cool accessory by the way... i play to buy a house for my G5 when i get it....

Daltasaur, congrats on the new car. I'm sorry if I missed it , but what colour combo and options did you go with? 17" wheels or stnd 16's? The 17" look oh so sexy, but I didn't like the ride , around Melbourne's tram lined roads. I don't think I would have the mental strenght or patience to be able to wait that long (+ 6 months) for delivery. However, am I correct in assuming that it would mean that you get the revised/upadated Mini?

The Golf R32 is a much better finished car than the Alfa 147 GTA. I was quite disappointed with the Italian's fit and finish, especially the interior. Although the engine bay is gorgeous as is the sound of the damn thing. Another disappointment was that ALfa expects one to shell out extra $$$s for leather seats and Xenon headlights - both standard on the Clio at half the price and it goes round the track in 1:33.8s (0.5 sec slower than the Volks @ 1.33.2s and waay faster than the Alfa @ 1.35.6s)
The Autodelta tuned 147, sounds the biz and would put the power down better having a front diff.
The daddy of V6 hatches at the moment would be the V6 Clio. Mid/rear engined, rear wheel drive lunatic! Pity Renault Aus have their head in the sand, V6 Clio would really boost the image here.

p.s. If you are in Melbourne and are keen for a drive, give me a buzz. I usually head out to the hills on weekends, my Clio excels in mountain country! h34r:

I'd recommend an advanced driving course, in your own car. IMHO , that is the best 'mod' one can do to a car and the fact that it is soo much fun bashing V8s on a track. Give me a yell if you want some links to courses.

I've got a few articles, old and new of hot hatches and Über hatches (the V6 engined ones), if anyone is interested

Awesome pics! So what car do you have, rice mac? The Clio 2.0L sports which is available here? I agree.. the V6 would boost the image of Renault heaps. My family has just bought the Renault Scenic, with Leather seats, power everything... etc. Its a great family car. And I live in Mitcham, which is on the way to the hills... (about 30 KM east of melbourne) so anytime you want to go for a drive through the dandenongs, let me know!

    Hey Ozi, another Renaultphile? woohoo!

Yes, I've got the 4 cyl version, only 120 odd kW and 200 of the torque stuff, but it is so bloody light (1040kgs) thats ample for me. It is a mk2, not the original 85 'Cup' badged Clios that lobbed over here.

I'm an unashamed lover of French cars and Renault is my favourite out of them all. I used to lust after the R5 Turbo as a little munchkin and the Pug GrpB 205 T16s (both GrpB and later in Pikes Peak and other rally-raids with Jean Todt as mastermind). I have a soft spot for old Cits. I'll try to pull up some articles on the Scenic, I've got some vids as well if you are interested (and have a DSL connection). The ujltimate MPV would be the Espace F1 concept - a Renault F1 engine from the Williams car in a carbon fibre body styled like an MPV. The ultimate Q car.

If you want some info about Melb based dealers service centres and independant mechanics, give me a yell. Did you get your car from GWS in Ringwood?

Re: drives check your PMs. You are welcome to tag along... just not in the Scenic... :blink:Spurs + Scenic = recipe for disaster!

Daltasaur, sorry for dragging the thread off topic. I'd be interested to know what sort of insurance you will be paying for the Cooper as we are both around the same age (this is assuming you got some quotes). I'm a rating 1 and pay $705 per annum with RACV for a agreed value of $36.5K.
