You might be able to FTP direct from the Finder: "Connect to server..." under the "Go" menu (or command-K)

Transmit rocks for FTP. But if you don't want to pay the very reasonable price - Cyberduck is cool

Cyberduck works and is easy and free. I have never used a FTP before and I was able to upload a simple website within 3 min. It was that easy and works every time for me.

GarageBand should be fine for basic mixing jobs.

Agree with Transmit (it's very reasonably priced and damn good&#33, and GarageBand (should be fine until you're ready for ProTools/Logic/Soundtrack/Live/whatever). GarageBand should already be installed on your mac.
