My suggestion of a crazy thing to do in NY (Must do some crazy stuff, it is NY): EAT hot dogs @ each street you cross in NY while you are waiting for the traffic light to turn green. =)))

If you haven't been keeping up, check out the other posts in the series.

There's been a lot of talk about me going to NY, but I have a travelling companion! Mr. Peter Wells (aka fulltimecasual) will be there scoring iPads with me. He had this to say:
I can wait a couple of weeks for an iPad - so why the hell am I going?!?
Well, partly to carry iPads for Anthony, partly to record the crazy bastard, partly because when he first started talking about flying to America just for an iPad, I insisted if he was doing it, he had to go to the 5th Avenue store. I might have oversold the magic of NYC a little too much and somehow i got roped in.
At this stage I'm not even planning on buying an iPad at launch for myself, so hopefully i can provide a nice contrast to Anthony, who seemed ready to burst last time we spoke… Or maybe sleeping in front of an Apple store with the crazy bastard will convince me to buy five. Who knows?
I also didn't know, until he told me last week, that Anthony has never been overseas. With that in mind, dragging the boy from St. Albans around Manhattan should be entertaining enough, even if the iPad turns out to be a dud - although, whatever happens in SoHo stays in SoHo!
I hope you guys enjoy the stuff we post on the trip!
--Pete
He leaves for the Big Apple tomorrow morning and I will be meeting him there on Friday night.
Keep an eye out on the blog for another post about what nerd tools we're taking with us on the trip, and for next week's podcasts, which will come direct from New York!

Ouch! He might be the one turning green with that advice!!!:laugh: We want the poor boy to fit on the plane on the way back! Especially those getting precious iPads.
PS. If I wanted to donate a small something Anthony how might I do that? You're doing a great thing to offer to get iPads for other people.
Also, it was just too ridiculous not to be a part of... See ya!

Whilst flattering - the EFA needs your money more than I do right now![]()
Good on ya.
Heheh Anthony mentioned in App developers are gearing up for Apple's iPad - USATODAY.com
"Alex Peters and her team at Melbourne, Australia-based Firemint are going to extreme lengths to get their hands on an iPad to try to adapt Flight Control for the iPad. The iPad won't go on sale in Australia until May at the earliest. So Peters is working with a local Aussie who's flying to New York to buy as many iPads as he can."
Ya could give Firemint a call and find out what's goin' on! No one should stealing Mactalks thunder!!!![]()

According to an article I read on SMH along with my knowledge one would think that fulltimecasual (pete) should score himself one so that he can save money if he intends on ever getting one, plus pete you could sell it and make profit because i'm sure there will be a guy here or on ebay that will pay top dollar to get his hands on one before the aussie release. Do me a favour and buy one for yourself, I can't afford one otherwise i'd have asked anthony to grab me one
Buy a full HD camcorder, heaps of tape, upgrade the microphone, and make a doco.![]()

I was 30 before I made it any further than regular trips between Australia and New Zealand. I love the whole travel process, from the moment you walk into the airport, in fact from the moment you put your bags in the cab and drive away from your houseIt's funny how quickly you become a pro at the whole thing, all it takes is a couple of flights and you work out the little nuances: the best seats in certain types of plane, the easiest way through customs, the easiest time to get into the plane toilet
I envy Anthony a little, that first big long-haul flight is terrifying and exciting at the same time. I just hope you're on a couple of different airlines because being stuck on a plane with the same movies both ways can suck the big one.
I am not sure if this has been mentioned before but when you get to NYC drop into a Wallgreens or CVS pharmacy and grab some Melatonin. Take 2 30 mins before bed and it will signifigantly help you with Jetlag
Also grab some Alli on the way home. You can sell that stuff at a huge profit too. Or use it yourself after all that U.S food!
