Default OS X Virtual Machine in Parallels

The great deity, Google, (all praise google) has opined that you can't virtualise OS X as a VM due to restrictions imposed by Apple.

    Anyone know different?

I'm just trying to set up a test environment without having to own another Mac for no other purpose than testing things.

It's against the license agreement to do so.

I have seen docs but it looks like a real pain.

Legally, you are allowed to virtualise Mac OS X Server 10.5.3 or higher, provided:
    - the host OS is also Mac OS X Server 10.5.3 or higher,
    - both host and virtualised copies of OS X Server are individually licenced, and
    - the host hardware is designed by & manufactured for Apple.

That said, VMware does a better job of it than Parallels does, but even then there are issues a'plenty with subsystems not working or even not appearing. OSX is designed to micromanage the hardware directly, much more so than any other OS on the planet, so if it can't reach the hardware the way it was taught, it complains.

Thanks for confirming what my research indicated Brains.

Guess I'll look around for a cheap deal on a Mac Mini then.
