In that AIM users don't have to know that I'm a dot Mac user? If I'm someone@mac.com, could I just tell a AIM user that my screen name is "someone" and they can add me? Or would the screen name be someone@mac.com?

I use AIM - and everyone on my list who has .mac seems to have a name@mac.com handle....

    But maybe they've chosen that?

You have to give them the full someone@mac.com handle.
