    Default Download Manager?

Maybe I'm going blind but I checked the stickied thread and did a search for download manager but can't seem to find any info.

I know The Google spits out a few options, but I'm interested in what people recommend?

Not so interested in torrents (although I understand Transmission is the weapon of choice on that front), what I'm looking for is simply some sort of manager to use to pause/stop/start large downloads.

Support for sites that require a password (like Rapidshare) would also be nice.

    So what do people recommend?

I've used Speed Download a little. It's very good.

Yes, SpeedDownload is very good. It does support downloading from password protected sites and has RapidShare integration. It ain't free, though.

    Cheers

Free wasn't mentioned in the criteria

    Also, can't Safari pause/stop/start downloads?

Only if the server supports http reconnect. Some do, some don't - and some of the ones you'd think would - don't.

While free is nice and all, Speed download looked the goods, so here I am... although under Snow Leopard it has crashed a few times, will keep an eye on that, but seems to work quite well.
