    Default Sorting Bookmarks

Something simple seems so difficult in Safari, I just want to sort my Bookmarks folders alphabetically, yet I cannot find out how to do this, any help appreciated.

    Download and double-click Sortosaurus.

Two clicks away from alphabetizing Safari Bookmarks.

You'll need rosetta installed to run that though.... of course as long as you've got your disk handy or a net connection getting rosetta is not hard!

Safari really should have such a basic function built in without the need for add ons.

Is it only the folders you want to sort alphabetically? Not their contents?

It does... it's simple you do it yourself. If you don't like it use IE maybe? You can't export bookmarks from Firefox without add ons. Yet Safari lets you export.

Chrome hates everyone. Maybe try Opera?

Do you store your folders on the Bookmarks Toolbar or in the Bookmarks Menu?

Firstly, click the open book icon in the upper left of the bookmarks toolbar:

You will see a list in the left column, it's here you can see how your bookmarks are kept.

I personally store all my bookmarks in folders which appear on Safari's Bookmarks Toolbar ...

Above, I'm using the Drag'n'Drop method to move a folder up the list.

You need to be mindful that you don't accidentally drop a folder into another folder .. this is easy to do and a bit of a pain.

Just a bit of practice is needed and you can arrange the folders in any order you want.

    Repeats first message:

    Download and double-click Sortosaurus.

Two clicks away from alphabetizing Safari Bookmarks.

Sortosarus is 7 links down on the James Howard: The Official Web Page site

It cannot get any simpler than this.

Thanks for all the help, what I have done was manually move the folders to their alphabetical position, tedious, but done.
