    Default What movie is this...

I'm hoping someone will know the name of a movie I saw many moons ago on SBS. It was played on 'The Movie Show', while still hosted by Margaret and David. It was a foreign horror film, possibly from the 1970's, about a vampire, or some type of evil guy who lived in a castle and wore a cape. There was a scene involving a victim trying desperately to escape from a large spider that was quite clearly a potato with pipe cleaners sticking out of it. It ended with some weird dance, featuring people dressed in odd costumes and face paint, prancing in circles around someone in a chair.

The post mortem of the film by David included some memorable lines 'I don't have a bloody clue either', and 'The bad guy looked like a used car salesman'.

I know it's not a lot to go by, but if anyone can help I will deeply appreciate it, I have been trying to remember for years what this flick is called so I can acquire it and once again bask in its trashy B grade aura.

No - I think it was Bill Murray - with John Candy in the role of Africa.

Spot on old chap! Many thanks to you for remembering this one. I've watched a few snippets of it on youtube and the memories have come flooding back. Gratuitous nudity, monotonous Moog sound track, dodgy looking actors, nonsensical pseudo-intellectual dialogue, and a spider that looks like it was constructed by a pre-school kid... you can't get much more B grade than that.

Thanks all for the rest of the suggestions, I especially liked 'worker and parasite'. How I wish they made a feature film of it!
