I am away from home at the moment and needed a HDD to backup my system before installing Snow Leopard.
They had this, so I grabbed it:

    LaCie Rugged Hard Disk: FireWire 800, FireWire 400 & Hi-Speed USB 2.0 320GB

    MIL-compliant; shock-proof up to 2.2 m
Maximum speed: up to 800Mbits/s with FireWire 800
Triple interface, bus powered, plug & play

To be honest, I just purchased one of these external cases for my OCZ SSD and am a little displeased with the quality. Although it looks cool, the ports don't actually line up properly at the back...?

    Roxio Toast 8 Titanium & Mac OS X 10.6:

Toast 8 works well on 10.6-despite being a older version.

    Got the former for $126.

    AC/DC's Black Ice:

Like The Beatles, you can't get this band's songs from iTunes-so you have to buy their CD's.

Nice! Where did you get this from and just wondering, is this controller overkill for someone who's new to Logic Studio?

Was considering the Rain mStand for my MBP, but got this for what is essentially half the price of one mStand from catchoftheday.com.au :

    2005 15" PowerBook G4 1.67Ghz (1st Mac purchased on the day iTunes AU opened!); 2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro (16GB RAM; Nvidia 750M); iPad 3rd Gen 64GB w/ cellular

i got it from DJWarehouse. its hard to say if it'll be overkill for you or not. i mean, it depends on what sort of setup you have already, your work flow, maybe even what sort of music you write too i guess? i work with entirely software and VST's and no other hardware so the more knobs, the better. Novation's automap feature (from what i've seen) will be a god send.

if you're just starting out, maybe just work with the usual kb/mouse combo and see what you would like to have more hands-on control over. you may just need a simple controller keyboard without the knobs (Edirol ones are nice for this). you may find you need more knobs than keys, in which case you have options like the new Korg micro range, or the Novation Remote Zero (same as what i just bought but without the piano keys).
