Question Benifits of Erase & Install?

I have recently came into possession of the Snow Leopard GM (10A342), and while and upgrade will be nessacary on the iMac, I have a bit more freedom on my MacBook Pro. I have been pondering the idea of an erase & install on it. I don't have much crucial data on it, and I can back-up all the crucial data to a thumb drive. The only applications I have to install are iLife, iWork, Photoshop CS4, Logic and Office 2008. So with that, would it be benifitial in any major way to erase and install, or should I just upgrade?

The main benefit to doing a complete disk erase s that you will start from scratch with a pure empty disk. That means less cruft and less fragmentation.

Whether that's actually good is a bit airy-fairy. I probably wouldn't bother myself. I also wouldn't both installing 10A342 until it's confirmed that is is actually the GM.
