I'm looking for some software to run on my mac that can convert Wma's to Mp3 or wav or any other USEFUL file format on the mac platform... You see i recently remembered i had all my albums on my pc, and before i got rid of it (yay) i burned all my albums to cds, as wma's. They were encoded in Windows media player 9 and had no copy protection setting on. Iff anyone has a fairly easy and fail safe way of doing this (other than importing one file into someting like peak and then saving it, as there is around 1500 files&#33 i'd be much obliged!

also, can itunes support ogg/vorbis files?

If you still have access to a PC, you can download WinAmp as well as the WMA9 plugin tool:
    http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=155680

From there you can tell WinAmp to use the "disk writer" output plugin which will write audio to disk instead of to your sound card (ie: as a raw PCM wav file).

Once all your tunes are converted to wav format, you can pretty much do whatever you want with them on any OS or application under the sun (including converting them back to mp3 or whatever your favourite compression format is). You'll obviously need a bit of disk space in the interim to convert your 1500 files!

Unfortunately I can't help you on the Mac side of things, I'm sorry.

Lesson to be learned: avoid Microsoft file formats at all costs.
