    hi all

i've been trawling the net looking for a way
to easily covert .avi files into a format that is
editable on mac platform ( running osx 10.3.9 )[B]
through imovie preferably - have tried 3ivx / DivX / Doctor
/ VLC and have no trouble viewing .avi files, but have had
no luck in going to the next step...editing

    anyone know of a solution?

    your help is much appreciated

    regards

ffmpeg seems to convert just about any video file format to just about any other format. You can certainly convert .avi to .mov for use or working with in Quicktime.
