    Speculate! Speculate!

If you use a Mac to make music (pro or amateur) did you know you can get 3Gb of FREE storage for your original songs at MacIDOL?

That's no misprint, that's a whole 3 gigabytes (about 4 CD ROMs worth of storage) free of charge and the only catch is you must have used a Mac to record or mix the song.

No adverts on your band pages, no spam email (EVER&#33, a store which can be linked directly to your PayPal account which takes no cut from your sales (at the MacIDOL end, anyway), a user forum to discuss and promote your music, all powered by Jamroom.

There are other sites out there, but none offer ad-free, totally free hosting. The only catch is you have to have recorded your original songs (for copyright reasons, no covers are allowed) on a Macintosh computer (Garage Band, Logic, Audacity, it doesn't matter, so long as your hardware was Apple.)

Don't just take my word for it. Visit the site http://www.macidol.com/ and have a look around. Ask questions of the members in the forums, listen to some of the tracks listed in the Artists Choice thread, but most of all, sign up for a free account and get your 3Gb of song storage - it will never cost you a cent.

Oh, and the Mac-only rule doesn't apply to those who just want to listen to music (only for those who want to host.) All songs are MP3 format and streams are M3U internet playlists, so whether you use Quicktime, iTunes or Windows Media Player, you can listen to it all.

Just a handful of the artists worth checking out...
The site's founder and benefactor, iFingers of London
    Maggie Osterberg
Paul Brazier's Cambridge brit pop and progressive
Talkin' Ape's tree climbing brand of Drum 'n' Bass
Obsidian's own brand of new metal
The Bananakiller's St Tropez club vibes
Rob Andrews' take on "southern rock"
B&Massa's strangeness (er, that'd be me, of course I use this service, it's the best out there&#33
If it can be imagined, their is already porn based on it.
