Default assigning volume controls to my non-mac keyboard

I have a g5 imac running tiger, and use a generic/standard logitech keyboard with no extra media buttons. Is it possible to assign dedicated buttons I don't use eg F6, F7, F8 as mute, increase/decrease volume?

Try a program/extension called "Sizzling keys".
I use that to control iTunes with CMD+OPT+Fx.

Most function keys are set to do different stuff, like change track, volume, play/pause.

But I guess that only works for itunes tracks. I'm looking for something to control the master volume control.

    ControllerMate works but costs money.
I also have a free little utility called FunctionToVolume which can do the same thing but it's not very user friendly.

It works on both.. but you need to pay $5 for the "Pro" features.
