Default OSX Version and Ilife with new Macbooks?

Just wondering, is it likely that the version of OSX included with the new Macbooks will include all available updates (eg up to 10.5.5) or will it only include 10.5? In preparation for my impending purchase I'm downloading all sorts of (legit!) recommended Mac stuff so that I can install it on my shiny new machine when it arrives. If necessary I'd like to download the combo update but only if I need to.

Also does a new Mac normally include Ilife?

Yes iLife is included. and why not just run software updates once you get the new machine?

I bought an iMac on the weekend that came with fully updated iLife, but OS X was only 10.5.4.

Better than usual though, because I normally have to catch up about 3-4 point releases for a new machine

I doubt it, but if they do that, I'll be straight on the phone to Apple.
Wonder if the "Buyer protection" thing would cover iLife?

From memory they also normally offer a mail in upgrade with Macs bought a month or so before the new iLife is released.

If these rumours about all new NVidia chipsets and GPUs turn out to be true, then the new laptops will probably come with 10.5.6 or possibly a custom version of 10.5.5 that contains the extra drivers.

    Current Macs come with 10.5.4.

Yeah. That's what I was going to say. Don't be surprised if 10.5.6 is released tomorrow as well (or very shortly at least)...

10.5.6 could come, or more likely a special deriative of 10.5.5 (with a different build number).

iLife '08 will be included-'09 can be announced at another time.
