Default iPhone Weather App - Data from BOM - Pocket Weather

Pocket Weather just hit the scene with an iPhone app for weather that sucks data down from the BOM.

Looks good - but needs the radar merged with it too. I stand corrected, there is radar in it!

Tap the radar-looking thing on the screen. It opens radar in the app in 64, 128, 256, 512 and National varieties

Just bought it, works a treat! It's nice having the weather straight from BOM so you can get places like Norfolk Island. And I trust BOM moreso than Yahoo! Weather.

nice little app. Just downloaded it. Get to delete the free BOMradar app I was using and the shortcut to BOM.

It's not a big problem but I can't seem to edit the location I created. I live and work on the edge of two radars at 128k. If I want to see what's happening north and south I have to look at two radars... Or zoom out to 256k. And hence I've had to create two locations just to view the radar.

Cool app. I just wish it would take you straight to your last viewed location when you launch the app. Instead it takes you to the locations list, then you have to select your location.

Why should it be free? Someone has worked hard to put an app together but still tightasses want everything to be free.

You want free do a webclip to the BOM website.

Because as per http://www.bom.gov.au/other/copyright.shtml you can't redistribute the data on the website for commercial purposes (selling an app is a commercial purpose, in case you missed that) without the appropriate approvals from the government.

I hope they've got the necessary approvals, because thats a seriously cool app :-)

    Hmmm tricky.

Is this redistribution of data, or is it just browsing BOM with a very customised browser?

Point taken but somehow I don't think the mac_man_luke was too worried about copyright violations. Happy if I'm wrong.

not only the potentially unlawful source of the data, I just think $2.50 is bit rich to tell me more accurately what the temperature is in a few clicks.

I woulda paid $1. for $2.50 I'll go through the usual motions instead.

I dunno about the copyright issues, but I happily coughed up the $2.49 - it's nice implementation, with the functionality I was after
