I will be doing both, PM and public posting. We should think of some sort of theme or we will feel silly when we meet haha!

LOL. To break the ice, we could meet on a weekend at Hudsons/Gloria Jean for free OPTUS WiFi for our iPhones....or just congregate outside the Chadstone Apple store for more free WiFi goodness for all our MBA!

Yeah, then you'd have no chance of looking like massive nerds.

    Of course not!

Can you imagine it now? 5 skinny guys with their emo hair...congregating on the one seating area directly outside the Apple store...with our identical aluminium MacBook Air.....all huddled close, but not touching, all conversing with each other through iChat....that's not nerdy at all!

    What you need is a type 2 nerd;
overweight with a junk food addiction and shiny tech toys to complete the picture

I thought the MBA was the theme.

I suppose if you want a theme you could just show off how you use your MBA with your iPhone to sync things on the go. Or maybe show how well VMWare Fusion or Parallels works in it with a Windows partition. Although I'd just be happy seeing an MBA in action.

LOL! I totally forgot about the type 2 nerd! Yes....the ones with the pathetic beards, thinning hair with ponytail, munching on Crispy Kremes in their Star Wars/Star Trek t-shirts who have an extensive comic book (and porn) stash

Ahem...i do have a large comic book collection...nothing wrong with that! I think chadston is a good place though city is more convenient for me but i don't mind the train trip to chadston for a change in scenery and the free wifi. Yup MBA is still the theme worry not! I do have Xp with VMware if you are interested...nothing too spectacular though... Check this out:

Chadstone has a train station? No....train then bus trip! Yeah, city is more convenient for me...but happy to drive you there...since I'm only 15 mins away from the city. Um....yeah, I just read that article! I think there are good things to come for our MBA babies!!!

This Saturday I'm supposed to be going to a Grand Final Party to watch the Yearly Event. I don't follow the football but it's a good excuse to meet people and have party pies.

Any other time on a weekend apart from that should be OK with me.

You're my kind of geek then. I know I said I'd go to this Grand Final Party but until two nights ago I didn't even know which teams were in it. "Just show me the party pies" is what I'll be saying. And then I'll say "How much is Collingwood winning by?"

Next weekend sounds fine. I'd like to see the MBA in action with Windows in VMware if possible so I can get a feel for what it can do. I'm easy with either Chadstone or the City (Carlton has some nice food places) as I have a car.

Hey peter, you should tell us what you want the MBA for so that we can help you out if you are deciding to buy in when we meet. What kind of programs do you want to run on it? May be you can put it on a thumb drive when you want to test-drive it on the MBA.

    I'm normally running:

    iWork 08
Aptana (although I want to check out BBEdit).
    PHP
    MySQL
    Apache
VMWare Fusion and I occasionally have up to 2 operating systems going in that.
Multiple web browsers for checking my web sites in.
    iTunes.

So I'd keep my existing Mac. I'd like the MBA to run all that but depending on how my budget goes I could be tempted to buy an MBA just for those times I need something easy to carry and demonstrate things with or to use for taking notes in lectures. Or even just to use it for travelling with.

It is an excellent travel lappie but you should never expect it to perform like a MBP...at least not the current model. I have iwork and VM/Xp on mine, you might have to bring the compilers and other programing stuff to test when we meet if you want to try it out. May i ask what mac are you running now?

    MBP 2.4ghz.

I was thinking the MBA would be good as a travel mac-lappy.

Nup, I also ordered mine straight after the keynote. Though, I received it a bit later as I had mine custom configured for a 80GB HDD and 1.8Ghz chip.
