    Hi ive been trying to log some footage into imovie and final cut but the computer doesnt react well when the sony camera is plugged in, no picture comes into the logging window and the computer freezes very weird any ideas folks???

    First, is your camera supported? It should work if it's just standard DV, but it always helps to check and know.

    Then, I'd take a look at whether or not your video has timecode breaks. If the timecode indicator jumps around haphazardly while you are reviewing the video on your camera, then you know that this footage is pretty much useless to the computer.

    What you might try doing is heading on over to Avid.com and capturing your footage with FreeDV.

    The advantage to FreeDV in this situation is that it allows you to literally have the computer not listen to the timecode track, which means that you'll be able to capture your bodged footage no-problemo.

    Otherwise, you may be out of luck with this particular footage.
