Default deleting files from playlists in itunes

is there a way of removing a song from an itunes library by selecting it from a playlist and doing something.

Its really hard geting rid a playlist full of tracks when you haveto go search for them in the main library.

I just want a way of permanently deleting tracks from within a playlist.

    Any ideas?

not from within the playlist. You can only do this from the main library.

The only thing I can think of off hand is to maybe highlight the entire playlist, 'Get Info', tag every track with some random jibberish (in an unused field)... then search that ibberish in the main playlist. That way everything you tagged will come up in the main list.

Did that make ANY sense? I just woke up.

I think one of the modifier keys allows you to do this. Try command-delete.

    Edit: It's option-delete.

Try option delete, that's what I use.

yep, option-delete. iTunes doesn't make that very clear at all.
