Default Mac Extended Journaled + XP = Corruption?

    Hi There,

I recently bought a WD 500GB MyBook Ext. Hard Drive for Time Machine, and I partitioned it into two areas; 80GB for General Storage and the remainder left for Time Machine. Both are in the Extended Journaled format.

I need to back up my dad's XP computer, and want to use this external drive. If I format the General Storage drive for use in XP and leave the Time Machine side and then plug the drive into my dad's computer, will the Time Machine side become corrupt?

    Thanks in advance

It shouldn't. I'm guessing you'll use disk utility to remove the old partition and add another? Be careful you don't click on the wrong thing.

Yes, I was intending to move the data I have on the General Storage side to my Macbook's HD temporarily, format the partition and use it, then format it back and move the data back.
