Default DVD player lost in 10.5 update

I have a powerbook 12 inch - 1.5ghz. We installed Leopard and did all the updates to 10.5.2 and now my DVD player does not work. To try and resolve it my stupid (but handsome) husband suggested trashing the DVD player and reinstalling from the Leopard install disk.

How do I resolve this, or can anyone suggest a good DVD player to download?

It means, you can download my copy in a few moments, and then uncompress it (double click) then drag the DVD Player back to your applications folder.

    EDIT:

    Download a copy from here.

Thanks - downloaded and installed on my machine.

The only problem I have now is that it doesn't work. For the same reason my husband (for reasons only known to him) deleted it in the first place. Apparently the latest graphic update for Leopard from apple doesn't work on my machine. Is there anyway to delete the update???

Sounds like you might have to do a backup and reinstall. Then put everything back.

i also have the same model powerbook, and dvd player has been broken since the graphics update that came with the 10.5.2

this is a significant problem for all powerbook 12" users, especially the 1.5ghz units. i did some research on this a few weeks back for example:

nothing will work, unless you do a fresh archive+re-install to 10.5.2 and DO NOT accept the graphics update....

no solution from apple as yet

in the meantime, you can try VLC player'

Oddly enough I suspect this update also broke my Mac Mini 10.5.2 fresh reinstall too. Although on the 2nd install attempt after rebuilding for a 2nd time, it worked fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if this update is responsible myself.
