About bloody time.. EyeTV 3 had so many damn bugs.

Finally, they have allowed us to import xmltv program guides, I was putting pressure on them to allow this.

EDIT: Anyone got the link to download it, as I am on the site and all I can find a link too is the silly README or release notes. Grrr.. (Rather then using the Application to download the update, I want a copy so I can apply it more then once without the need to re-download from within the application each time).

It appears that they only allow you to do it from within the Application now. Maybe it is an anti-piracy thing?

I can't see that as being a show stopper... I'll be sure to ask them when I am next on the forums. Good to see the xmltv introduction, although unless it can be automated to pull an xmltv file from a local spot or remote url every day, then it will be a little useless. But atleast it is a start (from when it didn't include it). Now we might see some add-ons that will do remote scheduling, but based on guide data imported from the xmltv file into a local database and then some software that goes over this database.

I'd love for someone to code something like that, if mythtv can do it, nothing stopping someone doing it on OSX for EyeTV by way of an add-on. If I could do it on my own, I'd try but its a massive task to undertake.

Sheperd EPG comes to mind, do a google. You'll see references to it on posts at Whirlpool.net.au forums in the Linux section.

Another is the epg used by the Oztivo people... google it too.

OzTivo provides an XMLTV feed for FTA and Foxtel/Austar.

EDIT: Yep, purana beat me to the punch.

It would appear using an XMLTV guide is not real configurable.. Sure you can tell a channel to use xmltv, but I cant understand where else to configure it, except in that spot.

Atleast they fixed the gui bugs I noticed within days of having it. These have been fixed.

The problem above as pictured, no longer happens. It's resolved. w00t.

Have a look at this topic on the Elgato forums for more info on XMLTV.

Also I found another provider for data: Free*EPG

It would appear I spoke too soon about the EyeTV Program GUI issues were fixed.. see below, still evident. Reported them again to Mike and the team. As pictured, when doing exports of a program which you then highlight also makes the line visible, as seen in the picture below.

Finally had a chance to play around with the xmltv guides in EyeTV 3.0.1 and have got them to work quite well. The biggest problem I have found is you need to restart EyeTV or drag the xmltv file onto it for the EPG to refresh.
In the end I solved this with a combination of iCal and an Applescript I wrote to download, unzip and update EyeTV daily. If you want more info or the Applescript download have a look at my blog post.
