Default Power Blackout now fan noise from hell

    Hi all,

During a thunderstorm this afternoon and the power went out and came backon within a few seconds, Imac turned off and when I turned my imac back on, the fan noise from it is at least double what it was before. Could I the power short have caused some damage?? I really hope not

    Any advice?

If it continues, try an SMU reset, and go buy a decent surge guard

I had turned it on and off a couple of times but problem still persisted to I turned it off and left it off for 1/2 hour, when I turned it back on its all back to normal now

Thanks, will definately go buy one that scared the shit out of me,
