    Default lost some files... help

Hey friends, My housemate has lost just one entire folder of files off his hard drive.

This folder contained some very important documents, which would need to be recovered.

The wierd thing is it was just on the desktop and it has now been deleted (either inadvertantly or otherwise)

He is using a MDD g4 running 10.4.10
Disk utility reports the disk as fine, haven't had the guts to run a fsck, or a permissions check in case it overwrites the undelete data...

Any ideas on recovering this folder?

    Yes.

Turn the computer off NOW and do not use it. Use another computer, and purchase a copy of Data Recovery II.. Put the affected Mac into Target Mode, and connect it to another Mac as its host. install Data Rescue II onto the host Mac, and use it to run a recovery on the target Mac.

This is the ONLY way you have a very good chance of getting the data back intact. The longer your friend uses his Mac, the greater the chance that the parts of the disk that had the data on will be over-written.
