Thread: Region-free?

    Default Region-free?

    Hi all,

Switcher; bought my first mac (macbook) on the 26th, purchased a retail copy of leopard on the 27th, and am waiting on my free upgrade of pre-installed Tiger. Also first post here so "hi" again.

Ok so I'm getting the hang of OS X and starting to see what the fuss is about (loving how aware everything seems to be of each other). I'm playing with quicksilver and wondering how deep that rabbit hole goes, learning that VLC is my friend, and that Quicktime is surprisingly robust.

So how do I crack my DVD-ROM? The first time I played a DVD it asked me to select a region, something I haven't seen in years on Windows. As I can't replace a dead optical drive in this thing like I could with a lenovo or hp lappy there's some serious hesitation to start applying firmware patches. Can anyone advise?

    Cheers,

    David
