Default iTunes eating RAM like a fat man at a smorgasboard!

iTunes is using a lot of RAM
I havfe 44,000 songs in there, all with cover-art, and I like it. Is there any way to reduce it's memory usage that doesn't involve culling my library down (I already trimmed 80gb of fat off my collection).

hehe - mine is currently ~44mb...
... no thanks to a hard drive crash earlier this year! Only 614 songs right now

If I scroll completely through coverflow I get up to 430mb easy.
Turning off cover flow and it's immediately drops to 242mb.

I suppose keeping covers cached takes up quite a bit.
