Actually, I'm hard pressed to find a .mpg file!!! Just that a friend said it wouldn't open in QT.

I love VLC and figure it is head and shoulders above anything else but things like MPlayerOSX will do the same sort of thing too

The reason why a .mpg may not play is the CODEC or lack of, check...

    1) Flash Player http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash or http://tinyurl.com/zgkz2

    2) DIVX Player http://www.divx.com/

    3) Flip4Mac http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...omponents.mspx

    4) VLC http://www.videolan.org/

    5) RealPlayer http://www.real.com/ Click Free RealPlayer

Or choice one the below instead... (I don't know if replaces all of 1 to 5 above, so you need to check yourself.)

    a) http://perian.org/

    OR...

    b) http://blog.twenty08.com/2006/12/27/...new-mac-users/

    NOT BOTH!

perhaps i should have said VLC FTW .. i have been using vlc daily on a mac for 2.5years. There are some things the mac version doesn't do as well as the windows ersion by they are in deep dark rarely used corners.
