iPod Shuffle dock help

Hi there,

At home, we have two iPod shuffles. One pink and one blue. I have the blue one and mum has the pink. She got mine before me so we just use her dock. My shuffle however is slowing iTunes down when plugged in, for example when I change the rating of a song, it hangs and says - "Waiting for iPod". Could this be because I am using her dock???

I don't believe docks are necessarily hardwired to iPods... There shouldn't be any reason why using a dock supplied with another iPod should have any effect.

You don't happen to have manual control set on your iPod, and you're controlling the ratings of songs directly on the device itself, rather than the iTunes library?

An iPod Shuffle Dock is just a fancy USB extension cable.

I concur, no reason the cable would do this.

Perhaps your ipod is on the way out?

EDIT: Oh, out of interest, how full is your ipod. I notice when they get to around 90% full (about 900MB) they can slow down a bit too!

I just got it last week, it would be around 90% full but it still shouldn't be slowing down iTunes, should it??
