Picking up my Audi A5 3.2 V6 from the dealer on Friday! (a nice Christmas present to myself and yes, pics lifted from Carsales.com.au website, no time to take own photos yet!)

Cheers guys. Took her out yesterday after I picked it up at the dealer. The purr of the 3.2l V6 engine was a welcome change to my old 2.0l. Initial feel - very solid (heavy) drive, though the 18" alloys make it a harder drive than I'm use to. That said, the steering is as light as a feather. Everything is automatic. Automatic lights. Automatic rain sensor wipers. No need to place key in ignition to start her up. It's one hell of a sexy beast

    I love RS5's.

Anyway, right now I am driving a 1993 Nissan Silvia S13. SR20, 2L 4 cylinder, cheap to run and maintain. Nice to drive.

Yeah i guess that's one of the few problems with a heavier engine. I'm driving a C350 cdi and it doesn't seem as light on its feet as a 2 L diesel.
Still I am tres jealous. Is it 4wd? I'm not 100% cluey with audis.

Nah. Mine wasn't the top A5 model. There's a 3.2L V6 Quattro (which is 4wd). Mine is 3.2L V6 FSI (front wheel drive only). Took her out to the country for a few days. She drives so well. Had bloody P platers trying to tailgate me all along the way. I just easily accelerated and left them behind. LOL

Driving a 05 VZ SV6 with a custom VCM dyno tune atm, has run a 14.8.

Had a 10second LX Hatch Torana before it. Sorry about the picture quality.

Nothing to do with the engine and all to do with 18" low profile (245/40R18) tyres. There is just under 100mm (245 multiplied by 0.4) of air and rubber between the road and the wheel. Completely different car, but compare this to 130mm of air and rubber between the road and the rim on a comfort-oriented Falcon XT.

It's all a compromise - ride vs handling.

Yep. Though it is a heavier car than my previous A4, it's the tyres that is the difference. Previously, I had 16" alloys. Now with the 18" alloys, the ride is a lot harder. You can feel every bump. So I've been avoiding potholes, crawling over speed humps and parking not as close to any curbs (my previous rims were absolutely ruined because of the high bluestone curbs in some suburbs). However, the up side is, the handling feels better and the steering is feather light. It's incredible to drive

Just so the renault owners don't feel lonely A 1990 Renault R21 Marseille.

A trusty old thing. Rare as rocking horse poo in Australia, with about 80 ever imported - would be surprised if there are more than a dozen left on the road, as they are not the world's most reliable critter... But this one has soldiered on well.

Is doing me very well after I sold my good car when cash got short after being made redundant That was another Renault, but a lot newer. Wont buy another until I can afford a Megane R26!

This old girl will then be restored and put on club plates in a few years once it turns 25 years old.

Cheers What doesn't kill you and all that!

Truth be told, the other one went for a price I would have been happy with anyway - although it otherwise would have gone towards an R26. And quite enjoy the 80's retro motoring!

Instead, it went towards travelling to the US to see space shuttle Discovery launch - which I probably cant afford, but life is waaaaay too short to not do these things

Anyone want to hire an environmental scientist?

Picked up my new ride today...a 2008 Lancer VRX! Absolutely love it. Will give me much better economy on my half hour drive to work than my current V6, and it's all new and shiny. Auto wipers, headlights and key proximity.
