Default Macbook pro shutting down at about 50% battery

Just wondering if this means time for a new battery?
    Service info says "service battery".

Yeah I'd say that your battery is holding about 50 percent of the original charge and the battery hasn't 'realised' and thus is reaching a point (thinking it still has half a charge left), but in reality it empty.
