    Default imac logic board

    I killed my 2011 iMac dead.....here's a tip , USB 7 port hub attached ...plug in the wrong power lead to it ...bang goes your logic board .
    Result ....$1000 plus to replace the board , or buy a new one ??
    HELP !

    Sadly, buy a new one unless you're really attached to what you have (and the $1K part may not include labour which isn't an easy tear down). If you've fed it too high a voltage (even via USB), several components could be toasted.

    Have you looked into an Apple authorised repair place?
    Plus, IIci, IIsi, LC, LCII, LC III, CC, LC475, LC630, Centris650, 6100, 8100, 5260, 7220, 7600. PB: 100, 150, 160, 165, 540, 190, 5300, 1400. Lombard, iMacG3, iBookG3, iBookG4, PBG4, eMac, iMac G4, PMG4, MiniG4, iMacG5

    Or put the old HD into an external drive, you can boot up of this too.

    Slow but effective.

    My Macbook Pro has been in and out of the genius bar more times that i can count, so I've done this. Sadly my external enclosure is USB 2.0 so it is SLOW!
