Default Can I use Wi-Fi to connect phone?

EDIT: To clarify, I want to connect to the internet through the Mac Mini with my phone so that the phone can update and download stuff without turning on mobile data.

I have HFC so I don't have a router. Actually that's not true, I do have a router (an ADSL one) but for some strange reason unless it's actually connecting an ADSL line, it won't let me log into it.

Is there any way I can use my Mac Mini's Wi-Fi to connect to the internet with my mobile phone? The phone is a Galaxy S2. I've tried doing it myself but either I'm too dumb or I'm too dumb to figure it out.

    Home screen
    Settings
    Wireless and network
Scroll down to “Tethering and portable hotspot” and tap
Select either “USB tethering” or “Portable Wi-Fi hotspot”
    confirm battery use
think of, and enter snappy SSID say "ASIO_Surveillance_Van"
    add password

Isn't that to use the phone's mobile data to browse the internet?

How does your Mac Mini get it's internet connection?

Assuming it comes in via the ethernet port, you want to turn on connection sharing.
