Amazing transformation after looking at those earlier images.

Thanks for being so patient. I'm hoping to get stuck into it during the week or the weekend. I don't think any of my Colour Classics still work (all leaking caps) so I'll have to use a different Mac, hopefully my LC575 works still. Either that or the trusty 5500

Thank you regarding the Mac Plus. I'm pleased with it overall. I can't wait to get it back to Oldmacs now.

Thank you. It all came together well in the end and I'm pleased with all the parts I gathered. Bit of a shame the analogue board is not a true beige one but otherwise it's good.

I'll leave the final 'detailing' of the case to the owner (Oldmacs) as I've only given it a wipe over. I'm not really 100% sure what to use to clean the case, without risking damage etc.

Cracked out some Ajax spray and wipe surface cleaner to give the TWO repaired Mac Plus a final clean. Yes, last night I had a spare hour to tinker again...

Seems it didn't touch the scuffs... Cleaned off the grubby bits but the few scuffs and marks are all still on them both. Any suggestions of what to use on the plastic to clean off marks but not damage the plastic? I never use cleaners on the Apple logos or silkscreening, no way would I risk that.

I used Ajax wipes, not the spray and wipe. Did some keyboards last night that were filthy from Howard's, and they came up great.

I won't be using anything else now!

They just do a great job at getting the dirt out of the textured surface, and removing light marks. They come in a while container, and you can rip the sheets in half to get value for money.

We all love value for money. Ripping them in half is something I'd do too lol.

UPDATE: got myself some Ajax wipes (hahaha). Yeah, they're pretty good

And I see they're actually deliberately perforated so you can use half at a time, I thought we were just being stingy.

And also, Oldmacs Mac Plus I hear should be arriving "back home" shortly, right???

Haha, I'm stingy but not THAT stingy! The Plus I got in the 128K box looked a little average, but a couple of those wipes and it came up very nicely. Looking forward to when I start pairing kbs and mice to my collection and seeing how they go. A lot like cotton buds cleaning floppy drives, I think I will need a very large pack.

Enjoy Oldmacs, they don't get much older than yours!

    Macman,

How did you go with those AC filter caps that you bought?
I have a Mac plus that trips my circuit breaker as well and I suspect it is those caps that need to be replaced.

    Any advice?
