Default Anyone's iPhone Come With Scratches/Nicks Out of the Box?

My iPhone came out of the box looking like this:

Not sure if I can be bothered taking it back to the Apple store for a replacement

    Wow, that's really bad.

I would definitely be taking mine back if it had those markings. Thankfully my iPhone 5 is in pristine condition.

I know you can go to the store but you can do it online too, just ring them and you keep your phone until the new one gets there then you just post the old one back, I would!!!!

Looking closely, those scratches translate into as Come play with us, Danny. In Chinese.

    Or could be scratches.

Nothing here - that really sucks. You should definitely exchange it ASAP.

You've got two weeks at least though, you of all people would appreciate that.

I'm amazed that made it through QA/QC Anthony! You should definitely get a replacement ASAP. Sux that you'll have to wait longer for a non-damaged phone.

Now I'm worried about how mine will look. I'm picking it up tomorrow.

Mines got a couple of nicks on the bezel down to bare metal. Nothing like yours though. But as I don't intend on using a case I'm almost guaranteed to get more in the coming weeks.

Mine out of box this morning with very similar nick near sim tray, too dark to get a good image. First ever item to be damaged from Apple out of the box. Very surprising.

Apple seems to be letting its quality down......

Lol. Apple's sold the same number of iPhones in 3 years as it did Macs in 22 years. They preordered as many iPhone 5 in one day, as sold Macs in 6 months of 2011. Cumulatively, they're selling a lot more product than they used to.

So there be scratches on some.

And let's not go rose-coloured glasses on their pre-iPhone products either. I can think of quite a few sucky Apple products from each Apple era. Maybe especially the Rev-A products (of which iPhone 5 may be one).

    No Lols for Decryption though.

Yeah I have a chip on the back. Noticed it the moment the plastic came off.

I know they make many more iPhones but on a product that you pay $1000 for you'd expect that you wouldn't have multiple people with fairly obvious cosmetic problems.

Yours is bad Anthony, I think the guy that oversaw yours was either blind or dropped it on the floor as he passed it to the next guy. That's totally unacceptable for a new phone, no matter what the price is.

If this is how the come out of the factory, i'd hate to see yours in 12 months time Anthony.

As for the other pic above, I wonder whether it is a machine that was inserting the sim-tray that caused it?

I've got a tiiiny scuff as well near the front facing camera. For those of you who got those nicks, are you planning to return them?

I'm a bit pissed honestly, but I think it's the OCD in me. lol. I p

Well.. In the middle of admiring my new phone, I found another scuff on the chamfer. This time on the bottom back, right side. I'm torn now...
