Default Recommended USB Hubs for a Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011

    Hey all,

I need a usb hub to attach most of my devices to the laptop.

I have a powered one at the moment but that drops drives whenever i add more than 1 to it.

Recommendations for a good hub that is able to work seamlessly with a Macbook Pro and have more than one disk attached to it.

This one by Logitech looks okay, but I think the Belkin is cheaper (and more ports)

I can't recommend Belkin hubs. Evil pieces of crap. Just had too many failures with them.

What do you need connected to it?

Can anyone tell me how to make a new post of my own? I have a question I need to ask but I don't know how. Sorry to interrupt this thread.

Go to the forum (where you can see all the threads), up the top should be a "new thread" button.

Typically i'll have something like this attached to the entire machine

2TB External drive - Backups (This is on a dedicated port on the laptop though)
Couple of 2.5" HDD's in caddies - VM's and work stuff
Usual flash drives at different times
    iPod
    Kindle
    possible camera

Generally anything that is USB lol.

I'm surprised you're not running the drives off Firewire. Much better interface for drives, imo. Thunderbolt is also a better option than USB.
Keep an eye on the Seagate Goflex stuff. That's looking really awesome.

Anyway, I use a Moshi iLynx, which is staggeringly good so far, but only has 4 ports.

The Belkin in this thread looks good too and probably suits your work flow very well. I have a dislike for Belkin gear, but that hub does look pretty robust.

Another option that is ugly as hell, but I believe has a good reputation for reliability is the big Targus 7 port.
