Not too much old stuff here any more - but one fave is a quad-cpu Daystar Genesis that's still working, and I turn on from time to time.
❤
Hi. Is there a vintage apple club where I can
Buy swap sell and ask for info. Just came across this
Thread and I collect macs but being on the west
It's hard to find gear.
HI Bigmark,
where "out west" in this big land of Australia are you? I don't think there are any vintage Mac clubs in Australia however, have you seen 68Kmla?

^^^^ what he said!! Where and what lol.
P.S. I'm 'west' too.
Yep, heading off to Wagga in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what I'm going to find there. He's insisted that I take a huge volume of MacWorld magazines (or was it MacUser?), essentially every issue produced. I'm hoping for some equipment that I don't already have, but I'm happy just to prevent these machines from going to waste. I think you and jsarchibald got the best bits already :P
I'm specifically looking for some IIci's, and also some units that oldmacs wants me to send him.
For sure, with each pick there is obviously less 'cream' left but there was still areas I had to leave unexplored and machines I still wish I had taken... You'll still be amazed but realise that this stuff has sat for years in the weather and through some very dusty droughts.
I remember leaving IIci's behind... And LC630's and LC 575's and LC 580's... So much software and magazines, yes.
Keep us posted!!!
I have wanted to go back too, but it's a $2K trip, and 16 hours each way, so I can't do it again. But if I was Melbourne based, I would be there in a flash!
There is still a lot of good gear left behind, it will be worth your while.

I just hope there is one working Lc, SE and a IISi/CI for neoxide to send to me!
Because then I can resurrect my Lc 475 and finally have a working compact mac !

Yes, there was at least two SE's I left behind (no SE/30's though). Definitely several pizza box LC's of various types (LC1, LC2, LC475) and a couple of IIci's though I took the last IIcx. A couple of Quadra 605's that I regret leaving behind too
Handful of Mac Plus and Mac Classics, HEAPS of Apple CRT's of various types, I remember seeing an eMac and an iMac G3, 6100's, several 7x00's, several LaserWriters... And LOADS of software, some even still shrink-wrapped.
Hmmmm wouldn't mind a classic! I guess any working compact (besides a plus) would be fantastic!

It looks slightly promising that Neoxide might find something for me, unfortunelty due to postage costs I will get a maximum of 4 machines.

That gives a good idea of what I left behind too.

It is all still amazing- why, why couldn't it be in Sydney ?

As far as I know, Jason and myself have been the only ones.
If the collection hadn't been so far away I reckon Howard would have made a lot of money and it would be all long gone by now!
I suppose you are right about the fact that it would be all gone- I don't think anyone wanted the inconvenience of getting to Wagga Wagga!

Sydney to Wagga Wagga is only 5 hours each way - I did 16 hours each way, I would have cleaned the place out single handedly if I was only 5 hours away!
