iPad delays and App rejections - just another week in the world of Apple. The fourth generation iPhone (or iPhone HD, as it is tipped to be named) is starting to make rumour headlines already, and will continue to do so right up until June's WWDC event. Joshua Topolsky has photos and information on what appears to be some kind of prototype device (there's no way this thing will ever ship with an Apple logo) that was "found on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case" (iPhone 4G: is this it? - Engadget).
Apple investors will be pleased to hear of the Quarter Two 2010 financial results conference call, which takes place next Wednesday. Unlike their product announcements, Apple actually streams financial results live so keen spectators might want to bookmark the event page (Quarter 2 2010 Financial Results - Apple).
It looks like Apple has realised the error of their ways when it comes to the App Store Review Team's rejection of Mark Fiore's iPhone app. The Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist has been asked to resubmit the app, despite it being thrown back at him the first time for "ridiculing public figures" (Cartoonist: Apple Backs Down After Denying iPhone App - The Wall Street Journal).
Hill Holliday is one of the top advertising firms based in New York. This week Apple's head of advertising (and former Quattro Wireless chief) Andy Miller visited their headquarters for a demonstration of the iAd network. Ilya Vedrashko posted his early thoughts of the platform on his blog (Apple iAd Team Visits Hill Holliday, Shares Details - Hill Holliday).
Do you want to see the full back catalogue of Steve Jobs' email replies? Including his greatest hits such as "are you nuts?", "no" and "yes"? You're in luck, because now there's a whole slew of Jobs trackers on Tumblr following his every comment. Cody Fink points us to the full collection (Steve Jobs' Email Replies Now Catalogued - MacStories).
As much as I would like to write more on this, everything you need to know is in the domain name (Please Make the iPhone Weather Application Location Aware).
'Boy Genius', whose rumour record is sketchy at best, reports AT&T employees have been handed down a vacation block during June. He then goes on to suggest that new iPhones are arriving a little earlier this year, which would also mean iPhone OS 4.0 is coming sooner than some may think (AT&T blocks employee vacations in June for iPhone Launch - Boy Genius Report).
For the iPad-obsessed, this week's news of more international delays until late May was disappointing to say the least. Even more bad news for Apple Store employees in any country though - Gary Allen tells us there is no special employee advantage for Apple's magical device, nor is there the opportunity to simply order one online at a discount (No iPads For Europe or Store Employees - ifoAppleStore).
The KFC Double Down Sandwich and the iPad are not a match made in heaven. You'd think that association would be made right from the start, but Adam Frucci & Brian Barrett weren't sure so they decided to test out the iPad's ability to take on the greasiest sandwich in the world. The results are not pretty (KFC Double Down Sandwich: Destroyer of Touchscreens - Gizmodo).
Finally, a wonderful guide to everything that Apple, Google and Microsoft compete on has been constructed by Shane Snow. On the "study guide", the author says "It's hard to grasp the breathtaking scale of the epic war between Microsoft, Google and Apple. Billions upon billions of dollars. Entire industries at stake. This is the board. These are the pieces." (The Dogs of War: Apple vs. Google vs. Microsoft - Gizmodo).
