• They say that every cloud has a silver lining. Microsoft are seeing that silver clouds are heavy and often fall down to earth, crash and totally screw your entire customer base. As Benny pointed out yesterday the Microsoft Sidekick lost all its data. Appleinsider explores cloud computing and what happens now.

We all know that iPods are practically bullet-proof vests but now Apple is actually doing something official for the US army. Developing a new line of surveillance equipment for the army Apple was seen as the most logical choice for security. So that unibody Macbook Pro you just bought is now US Army certified.

Google and Apple. Apple and Google. It was once a story of star-crossed lovers which unlike Romeo and Juliet actually ended badly. The last Apple employee stepped down from the Google board of directors to the classic hymn of Amazing Grace.

Speaking of Google and Apple it turns out that Google Chrome for Mac will be out earlier than expected. For anyone that's used this browser on the PC knows how blazing fast it is. So this begs the question...would you switch from Safari/Firefox to use the Google browser?

In one of my first news posts a few months ago (god I was young back then...I can't believe I ever wore my hair like that) I mentioned that Pizza Hut was bringing out their own iPhone ordering app. Well they were however it was only for US customers. Some of you got all pissy at me for making it the no. 1 story that day. In my defence it was up on the Australian app store however it was restricted to US customers only. Well now i'm more certain that they're bringing out an Australian app because Gizmodo told me so. So if you like melted cheese on bread with some sort of topping and NOT interacting with people by dialling their call centre then this is an app for you.

Much like the JFK assassination and 9/11 people will soon be asking "Where were you when Tweetie 2 was launched?" I was in bed with a supermodel...no...2 supermodels when I heard about that it had gone live. However we may remember that there was a bit of a brow-ha-ha (I love that word) over having to pay for an upgrade. Loren Brichter, the developer of Tweetie and now sex symbol for all geek tweeter girls, charged $3.99 for the upgrade. Well...thank G-d he did cause this developer raised his app to $40 because he was sick of whining customers. Touche Mr Developer....Touche. Buy Tweetie 2....it's worth it!

Considering the success of the App store and the limitations of the iPhone springboard (the UI used to launch apps) something is going to have to be done very soon. This developer has an idea on how to fix it. What do we all think?

Staying on the App store what happens if you don't happen to like the app that you're using? Can you refund it for store credit? Well...no. Not in any way, shape or form. Sorry dudes caveat emptier and ensure that you make your selections carefully.

There's a bug in Snow Leopard (hey...hey...stop throwing things...don't shoot the messenger) that deletes a guest user accounts data. Apple will eventually fix it (please) but for now the best solution is simply disabling the Guest accounts

I know it has nothing to do with Apple news but I promised a friend on twitter (@zacislost) that I would link to one of his suggested sites. Hey....what good is power if you can't abuse it. So enjoying the spinning beach balls

The Barracuda is a common HD in these machines, I'd do an SMC reset which should settle the fans down. Also check that all fans are operating properly/plugged
