For those of you Mac heads that are old enough to remember the Commodore 64 this here is going to blow your mind. Apple has approved a C64 emulator for the iPhone. Now you can relive classic games like Dragon's Den, Le Mans, Jupiter Lander, Arctic Shipwreck, and Jack Attack. For those of us who are too young to remember the Commodore 64 we can sit and laugh at people playing games with such awful graphics. Remember people...1982 was a simpler time.
Now I don't like to report simply on rumours....ah who am I kidding...I love reporting rumours. Anywhoo this rumour revolves around the next major Apple event on 9/9/09. Apparently the iPod camera is kaput. There are technical problems with it and a chance that the new iPods could be delayed. But remember....you didn't hear it from me!
The rumours of a delayed iPod are going to anger (like Hulk anger) a lot of third party case developers. Turns out that a lot of them have already created a number of cases for the next-generation iPods.
Anther rumour coming out from the September 9th event is the possibility of pre-made ringtones. This would possibly indicate the release of a new iTunes. Much of the speculation for a new iTunes revolves around increased social networking features and, hopefully, a new way to sort your apps.
Before the unibody MacBook Pro, before the aluminium iMac and before the iTablet there was the Apple 1. Want to see how an Apple 1 was built, just like the Woz did in the 70s? Well PCWorld shows you how they did it...it's a nice gallery of pictures there. I know that Apple burned PPC with Snow Leopard but do you think it could run Leopard?
Have you got MobileMe? Well Andy Ihnatko asks whether or not Apple's cloud based subscription service is really worth it.
I've already checked our iTunes store and it's not available yet. However Spotify, a music subscription app, has recently been approved for US and European stores. The reason that this is being mentioned on MacTalk is because Spotify directly competes with the iTunes store. This could mean that Apple is relaxing their force-grip like rules on the approval process for iPhone apps. Perhaps soon we'll see Google Voice, some sort of iPorn like app and all of those other apps that Apple denies us.
Remember when Google's Eric Schmidt resigned from the Apple board? Well another Google-connected board member has resigned. This could mean that the historically close ties between Google and Apple are now farther apart then ever.
