• Hmmm....lets see what happened in the news yesterday. Tensions between Israel and Sweden rose over an anti-Semitic article in a major Swedish newspaper has led to thousands of Israelis boycotting IKEA, government and environmentalist groups are offering cash money to stop razing of a number of rain-forests....aaaaannnd...oh yeah....farkin Snow Leopard was available for pre-order!

That's right folks! If you hadn't received a MacTalk email then make sure you sign up to our mailing list. But Apple's next OS is now a clicky link on the online store for only $39 smackaroos. Please use the MacTalk-Apple affiliate link to the store so Anthony can get some bling!

Speaking of bling Apple is expected to sell upwards of 5 million copies of Snow Leopard at launch. At $29/$39 I wouldn't be surprised. This would bring in more than $66 million dollars to Steve Job's ever-expanding bank account.

It's nice to see a good app get its rewards. Flight Control, the unbelievably addictive plane/helicopter landing simulator, has brought its developer, FireMint, more than 1 million dollars. Here's hoping this convinces them to use that serious cash to invest in other quality games and apps.

Now we all love AppleTV (why did everyone go silent?) but do you think you could love an Apple TV? Rumours on the tubes (pun intended) have been swelling with the possibility that by 2010/2011 Apple could be releasing their own television with DVR capabilities. The remote would simply be that awesome device that we keep in our pockets all day long....the iPhone. With wireless networks now cheap and easy to set up this isn't such a crazy idea...would you buy an Apple TV?

For all you Sydney folks the Apple Store (you may have seen it...it's big...kinda glassy) is hosting a number of classic rock bands next month. So come, enjoy, buy many thing. Shows start at 9am and are free...first come first serve basis.

Telstra isn't feeling the love. Apparently they spent all this moolah on expanding their NextG network primarily to push TV shows to mobile phones. Unfortunately they're unable to do so on the iPhone. They're trying to work around it but at the same time it puts them into direct competition with the iTunes store. So given the option...would you buy from Telstra or iTunes?

Corruption is hilarious. Turns out that Australian Customs has had a mole that has been tipping off all of the counterfeit iPhone importers. This still begs the question...why would you purchase a fake iPhone?

Recession...what recession? The Apple Stores in America (and hopefully here in Australia too) have been beating all these depressing economic forecasts.

We all love Gruber-San from Daring Fireball which is why we were all shocked that he got the whole Apple/GoogleVoice/FCC thing wrong. However he has posted a very detailed 'mea culpa' on his blog on how it all went down.

In non-Apple news Nokia has decided to launch their own netbook. The device will have a 12 hour battery life and run Windows....welcome to 2007 Nokia!
