"CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Leaders from the Army's technology command visited Apple, Inc. here to discuss the use of Apple products in Army business and battlefield operations." - The Army and Apple aren't exactly a combo you'd think of, but I guess even soldiers recognise cool products. I wonder what they have planned…
Adobe Creative Suite 5 is coming soon - in 19 days, we will see more of what Adobe has in store for this behemoth of a software package. Right now Adobe has a teaser site up with a little bit of info as to what's going down in CS5
A beta of MSN Messenger for Mac was released and it has audio and video chat in it. HOLY CRAP FINALLY! Don't get too excited though - the feature doesn't work properly yet. Microsoft need to put it back in the oven for a little while yet.
If you're interested in the CPU architecture that powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch - ARM, you might like this article on Mobile Local Social which goes into a bit of detail as to what ARM is and how it differs to your normal desktop CPUs.
Yahoo! have a new mapping app for the iPhone, that lets you draw a circle around an area you would like to search for a certain thing. For example, draw a circle around your current area and search for hotels. It will give you a list of the hotels in the area you outlined - nifty!
Random House, apparently the largest book publisher in the world, hasn't yet signed a deal with Apple to have its books on the iPad. Why? They're worried that the fact that the publisher (them) sets the pricing, that it could lead to lower pricing and lower profits. I don't quite understand, as they're the ones in control of the pricing, not the retailers - so if they're concerned about lower pricing, then all they have to do is keep the pricing at a rate they can sustain. Right?
Got kids? Want them to be safe on the Internet or just not do things on the Mac you don't want them to do? AppStorm has a detailed guide on "child-proofing" your Mac. That said, don't underestimate the teenage male desire to access porn. You will be defeated.
Use your iPad as a teleprompter! Is there nothing this magical device can't do? (flash? pfft)
AT&T are set to release 3G MicroCells to customers in the USA in April - these are little mini mobile phone towers, you install in your home by plugging it into your Internet connection. So if you're in an area with poor 3G coverage, install one of these and you've got perfect reception. I worked in an office with crappy 3G coverage on all providers and this would have been excellent there.
