Whether you're paying people out on public transport for using their iPad to play a little Solitaire before work, or whether you're hunting down that special Christmas present for your grandparents, card games are insanely popular and I'm not entirely sure why.

TidBITS have published an eulogy for the Xserve, entitled "may it rack in peace". A good read from the*perspective*of a datacenter professional.

Apple's pricing advantage. Wait, what? John Gruber himself explains why Apple's kit is just so good and why competitors can't even come close.

From the guy that brought you the iPad + Velco film that was featured on the Apple website comes the story of the iPad photoshoot ever seen anyone use iPads as a light source? You have now.

Adobe Audition is to Apple's Logic as apples are to oranges, and the public beta of Audition is available right now.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use the Terminal? Most Mac users don't realise how powerful it actually is luckily for you, Smoking Apples have a crash course in using the Mac Terminal.

Speaking of the Terminal, using some cool voices you can even make your Mac sing you a song. If you're after more, there's a thread for that.

Okay, now I need an iPad. The awesome folks at Firemint have announced online Game Center multiplayer for Flight Control HD. No word on whether this feature will be coming to the iPhone version, though.

Apple just released Mac OS X 10.6.5, finally putting an end to all these developer builds. Go update already!

The guy that invented fingerless gloves must have had an iPhone, because all that capacitive goodness just won't work when you're wearing gloves. Soon, that may all change thanks to some fancy new display technology.

The best air cooling you can get (from a custom built PC) is probably 5 - 10 degrees C above ambient temps, a consumer level machine might be around 15

I live in western Queensland (Longreach). Summer gets weeks above 40 where nights can stay above 30 and above 45 is not all that unusual.
