Some say the introduction of twenty twenty cricket is a pox on the purity of four-day test matches. Some say ODIs are the best kind of cricket, others still disagree, saying that those matches just aren't cricket. But in all honesty, who doesn't seeing the likes of any of the current cricketing greats smash it out of the park? I mean, did you see Warner's switch-hit six? Cue Stick Cricket Super Sixes, an incredibly fun game that's all about putting runs on the board.
Super Sixes pits you against the Bowlomatic 3000 — literally, a bowling machine — and asks just one thing: that you put as many runs on the board as possible. There aren't any fielders to catch you out; it's just you, the ball, and good ol' Bowlomatic over there.

Just because there's no fielders doesn't mean you can't get out, though, and to that end Bowlomatic has a few tricks up his sleeve in order to knock the bail off the stumps. He might decide to throw baseballs at you, for example, or he might even cheat a little and shine a spotlight in your eyes, obscuring your view of the ball.
It's not all stick and no carrot though, because some overs (called "levels" in Super Sixes — this is still a game, after all) give you six times the score per ball, and some levels also feature a super ball that gives you an extra life or even sixty seconds of fast-firing balls without any stumps — but only if you manage to hit a six off the super ball.

Like twenty twenty, Super Sixes probably isn't one for the cricket purists — there aren't any specific shots you can play, and you're only given the choice between a left or right shot even though your character pulls off different shots at his leisure. Curiously, Bowlomatic does have a few types of balls he can bowl — it's up to you to recognise which one he's bowling at any given time and time your shots accordingly.
Super Sixes is a universal app that works on both iPhone and iPad, and if I'm honest, it plays slightly better on the iPad due to the increased screen real-estate. It feels a tiny bit cramped on the iPhone, but that's part and parcel of portable iPhone gaming.

If you're looking for a more realistic cricket simulation this probably won't be the best fit — but if all you're after is a few quick overs of smashing-it-out-of-the-park fun, some nice inbuilt stats, along with a few varied levels (although for the life of me I can't get past level 9), then Super Sixes might just be exactly what the doctor ordered.
It's smashingly good fun, and just 99 cents.
