Now that all of you that preordered the iPad have got it in your hands, why not consider the iPad XL? It's got the power to run flash, but that doesn't mean that Steve will let you... $999 from any *decent* Apple store, or Chinese knockoff store, whichever is closer.Back in my day, jailbreaking iPhones was hard work - you had to mess around with all sorts of IPSW, bootloaders, and so on. With the release of Spirit, however, all that's changed - The iPhone Blog tell you how to customise your device with themes and SSH access. Now, get off my lawn, whippersnapper.
There's just something about the word free that just makes anything more attractive that it actually might otherwise be, and it's certainly no exception for iPhone apps. iPhone AppStorm tell us about 100 incredibly useful and free iPhone apps.
Hold it! Boy Genius Report picked up some iPhone screenshots from their "Apple guy", and if you needed any conclusive evidence that the next iPhone will have video calling capabilities, these screenshots should give you all the conclusive evidence you need. Take that! (Maybe I have been playing a little too much Phoenix Wright lately... More on this later.)
Skype on the iPhone has now*received*a long-awaited feature - Skype-to-Skype calls via 3G. A long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Apple removed the restriction on VOIP calls over 3G, but Skype didn't see fit to implement this particular feature without charging iPhone users for it. It's free for now, but it won't be after August.
Any Mac user worth their salt (or should that be apples?) has encountered the spinning beach ball of death at one point or another, and at times, it can be a frustrating thing to track down. MacWorld bring us an article on how to troubleshoot the spinning beach ball of death.
WWDC is exactly one week away, and as the rumours start flying, we hear from an analyst over at MacRumors who speculates on Mac Pro, MacBook Air, and iTunes.com updates/announcements at the World-Wide Developers Conference. With so much stuff on the table, let's hope Apple doesn't disappoint.
An interesting flaw in iPhone security has emerged, where, if connected to certain Linux-based machines, the iPhone will then allow the user to access it's data - regardless of whether the iPhone has been locked with a PIN or not. MacTalk really isn't into scaremongering like certain other news publications are, so we'll say this - if someone has physical access to your device anyway, chances are you've already lost your data.
iPhone fans! Feeling left out from all the iPad love-ins all over the world? Have a cry... into that iCushion of yours.
Finally this morning, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is, hands-down, the most epic game I have ever played on my iPhone to date. Yes, you're a lawyer. Yes, there are some epic plot twists. Yes, at times it feels a little "was it colonel mustard in the living room with the candle-stick?"-esque, but it's brilliantly constructed, and a damn good port of a DS classic to boot. Investigations, trials - this game has it all, and for the paltry price of $5.99? Instant-buy.
