When Steam launched, a collective "WTF" was heard globally as Mac users discovered that Steam stored all it's game data in ~/Documents, a location usually reserved for... um... documents. While their motives were good (as detailed in this Steam blog post), so many people complained that Steam have seen the error of their ways, and they will be moving the Steam game data folder to it's proper location, ~/Library/Application Support in the near future.
