• Ladies and Gentlemen, it is that time of year again. All around Australia and the world bored guys start letting their testosterone go to town on their top lip in an effort to raise money and awareness for mens' health issues.

Heard about breast cancer? Noticed the pink lids on bottles of water and 100,000 women in pink filling the MCG? There is plenty of awareness surrounding breast cancer and the number of lives it claims every year in women. Prostate cancer is just as prevalent in men yet sadly it isn't afforded nearly the same position in society's consciousness. 3,000 men die each year in Australia as a result of prostate cancer.

Depression in men is often stigmatised within our macho-istic, patriarchal society where the line is generally "big boys don't cry". One in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime. Although suicide as a result of depression is attempted more often in women, men are more likely to succeed.

This year, MacTalk has come to the party and started an official team within Movember. So come and join in and commit yourself to 30 days of fuzzy faced glory in the name of mens' health issues. Registration takes less than two minutes and means you can make a serious difference!

Please, don't just grow a moustache - do your bit and help out. MacTalk's Movember Team can be found here: http://www.movember.com/r/48546
